Soll is a charming and friendly village with good walks and excursion selection.

The village of Söll lies in a lovely open valley between the majestic Wild Emperor and Hohe Salve mountains. Midway between Innsbruck and Salzburg, it is ideally situated for a wide range of excursions and is a well-established walking area.

With untouched nature and fresh mountain air it is the perfect alpine setting in which to relax and explore the region.

In summer Söll boasts a multitude of attractions, including a sports and leisure centre, the Hexenwasser water adventure park for children and the lovely Moorsee lake.

There are regular village festivals, folklore and live music evenings during season in the village, and a programme of evening entertainment is also arranged by your representative.

Walking in and around Soll

The village of Söll forms part of the massive Bergwelt area which has a network of over 800km of walking paths. It is a beautiful valley, with endless walking opportunites all linked by a superb network of lifts.

An 8 seater gondola ascends the Hohe Salve mountain (1,829m, from mid May) from which there are spectacular 360° views. The Kaiserjet bus (FREE with your hotel guest card) transports walkers between the villages of Söll, Scheffau, Ellmau and Going making it easy to explore other areas as well. The post bus is also free between these villages.

Tourist Office Walks
Söll tourist office offers daily guided walks and good maps of the local area. Popular walks include the Moorsee lake, many rolling valley walks to villages of Ellmau and Scheffau, up to the Hintersteinersee lake, and more challenging hikes up the magnificent Hohe Salve.

A magnificent drive along a famous Alpine road leading right in to the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park up to the highest mountain in Austria at 3,073m, for breathtaking glacier views and a chance to see wild marmots at close range. One of our most popular excursions for nature lovers, we enjoy lunch on top of the mountain. Full day, from £34

Visit Mozart’s birthplace, the Hohensalzburg Fortress, the medieval Old Town and the famous Getreidegasse shopping street. An optional walking tour brings the history of this beautiful city to life. Full day, from £30

Berchtesgaden, Germany

Journey via the romantic village of Reit im Winkl to the Chiemsee, known as the “Bavarian Sea”. The Chiemsee is the largest lake in Bavaria. The biggest of several islands on the lake and accessible only by boat is Herrenchiemsee. The name derives from a sumptuous and wildly extravagant palace built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria. Marvel at the richly decorated interior and the stunning grounds all modelled on the Palace of Versailles. A fascinating insight into the world of a truly eccentric King.
