There are two main areas of Paphos: ‘Paphos Town’ and ‘Kato Paphos’.
Known to the locals as “Kima”, Paphos Town is located 2 miles inland from Kato Paphos.
Paphos Town is host to the main shopping area consisting of craft, embroidery, leather, jewellery,
pottery and department stores. The hustle and bustle of the hilly, narrow streets of Paphos Town are well worth a visit.
The main holiday area of Kato Paphos is the centre of modern tourist development. Kato Paphos
is centred around an attractive harbour lined with open-air restaurants. 8 miles north you will
find the resort of Coral Bay which mainly consists of two large sandy bays and a number of hotels,
apartments and holiday villages. The beaches of Paphos tend to be rocky so if it’s a sandy beach and
shallow waters you want, you may be better to stay in Coral Bay.
In addition to shopping, sunbathing and watersports, there’s plenty to do in Paphos
during the day. Places of interest include the Byzantine Museum; Mosaics of Paphos at House of Dionysos, the
Archeological Museum, the Tomb of the Kings and Aphrodite's Rock the "birth" of the mythical Aphrodite.
In terms of nightlife, there are numberous bars and british pubs in the Paphos area plus a few nightclubs,
some of which are located in the hotels.
